Ministry Description 事工簡介

Goal

• Work with pastors and other ministries to guild and support families with children to grow in Christ，strives to support parents to further the faith formation and character development of our children. Provides teaching and good role models to children so that they will grow in truth, salvation, reverence for the Lord and become His disciples. 

Areas of Ministry

Junior Church

• To co-work with the Family and Children Ministry Pastor to provide and assess teaching material as appropriate for children worship, to recruit, schedule and evaluate teachers, helpers and worship leaders.

Children Sunday School

• To co-work with the Family and Children Ministry Pastor to provide and assess teaching material appropriate for the children, to recruit, schedule and evaluate teachers for the 8 classes from JK to Gr 6. 

Toddler Room

• To recruit and schedule teachers and helpers during Sunday worship times, to ensure that the room is appropriate to provide care, in consultation with the Family and Children Minister, to provide teaching materials to prepare toddlers for receiving biblical teaching when they reach the age of attending Children Sunday School.

Nursery

• To schedule helpers to look after the children during Sunday worship times, to ensure that the equipment and environment are appropriate to provide care.

事工組目的

與牧者和其他事工組一同鼓勵及幫助有兒童的家庭在基督裡成長，使得父母成為兒童信仰的首要帶領者；同時事工提供教導及榜樣，帮助兒童明白真理及救恩，敬畏神，在主裡成長，成為主的門徒。

事奉崗位

兒童崇拜事工统筹

• 與家庭及兒童事工牧者合作，提供及選用合適兒童崇拜的教材，招募、安排及評估教材、進度，招募老師、助教及崇拜领袖。

兒童主日學统筹

• 與家庭及兒童事工牧者合作，提供及選用合適兒童主日學的教材，招募、安排及評估各級 (幼低至小六) 教師、教材、進度，招募老師及助教。

幼兒主日学统筹

• 招募及編排教師和助理在主日輪值，確保房間適合提供照顧，與家庭及兒童事工牧者協商，提供教材，以預備幼兒到達入學年齡時參加兒童主日學。

嬰兒室统筹

• 編排义工在主日輪值提供嬰兒護理，確保設備及環境都適合提供照顧。

2022 Ministry Report 事工報告 (Family Ministry 家庭事工)

1. The goals of the ministry group for the Year 2022 

After two years of mostly meeting online/hybrid methods, Youth Ministry and Children Ministry were looking forward to meeting in person again. With the formation of Family Ministry, our goal is to serve and equip families to raise up the next generation in the Word of God. 

2. The highlights of the activities for achieving the goals

• Restarted VBS after 2 years of hiatus.

  • 30 students were served during each session of VBS

  • Leadership training provided for 15 youths through the VBS CIT program 

• Family Summer Camp

  • 17 families (total of 45 participants) from all three congregations attended the Summer Camp at Warsaw Caves Conservation Area over the August long weekend.

• Another successful softball season fielding 3 teams (A high school youth team, an university team, and an adult with members from all three congregations)

• A NYCBC Family Softball Day with participants from all three congregations.

• Resumed in-person Children Sunday School, averaging 59 students on Sunday mornings. The most we’ve had was 74 on one Sunday.

  • Over 20 volunteers each Sunday

• Gideon/Gilead/Benjamin Friday fellowship also resumed in-person programs, averaging 50 to 60 students in total every Friday.

  • With over 10 volunteers each Friday

3. The results and some forward looking sharing

We look forward to continual growth from each area of family ministry. This includes serving the new families from the Hong Kong immigration, the restarting of the 9:30a Sunday Children Worship, hosting our first Youth Winter Retreat since the pandemic, and exploring new ways to engage families at NYCBC.
