2022 Ministry Report
1. The goals of the ministry group for the Year 2022
Evangelism: To equip church members to accurately and passionately present the message of God's Kingdom to those outside the church
Mental health: To allow the Good News to heal us, transform us, and mature us
Encounter God: To encourage/facilitate real encounters with the Living God through Bible reading, prayer, meditation
Biblical treasure: To cultivate a love for the Bible's riches that will transform our lives
Meet spiritual needs: To respond to the practical spiritual needs of our congregation
2. The highlights of the activities for achieving the goals
We organized the Sunday school curriculum for adults in the ESC. We invited a variety of teachers from within our own congregation and also some guest speakers including Dr. Victor Shepherd, Rev. Lane Davis, and local and international missionaries. Topics included “Do not be anxious”, “Gospel and Work”, “Minor Prophets”, “Proverbs”, “Colossians”, “Intergenerational communication”, “Bible translation”, “Relationship dynamics with people of the opposite gender”, “Evangelism and the role of gospel tracts”, “Reformation: historical context and key leaders”, “Sanctification and the Holy Spirit according to John Calvin”, and “Wesley’s societies”. The Diaspora Church, Fight for Freedom, International Student Ministry, and missionaries including the Yau’s, the Wall’s, and others came to share their work with us. We also held 2 special teaching events: Secret Church 2022 on human identity in our current society, and Walk Thru the Bible which provided a broad overview of the Old Testament narrative.
3. The results and some forward looking sharing
We pray that our service to the ESC will result in the growth and maturity of our congregation in knowledge and love for our Lord and deep love for people within and outside our church. May God send his Holy Spirit to do this miraculous work in our hearts.
In 2023, we are continuing some of these themes: Developing a delight in God’s word, Engaging in spiritual conversations with non-believers, Mental health and Biblical soul care. In our Sunday school curriculum, we are striving for a good balance of meditation on God’s word and addressing specific needs. We also plan to set aside one in six weeks for an extended time of fellowship and sharing with each other. We hope and pray that Sunday school will not merely add intellectual knowledge, but that it would be transformational knowledge that we can apply in the way we think, speak, and act every day.
